Default Columbian volcano

From CNN.com
Quote:
A volcano near southwest Colombia's border with Ecuador erupted on Saturday, leading the government to issue a "red alert" for the region.

There were not believed to be any fatalities or injuries in the blast, which happened at about 7:10 p.m. ET, said Carlos Lineras of the Colombia Institute for Geology and Mines.

Galeras apparently is fairly active, historically.

Incident on Mt. Galeras January 14, 1993

Quote:
The most tragic of those eruptions was the first one, which occurred on 14 January, during the development of an international workshop on Galeras in Pasto. The eruption happened when scientists were taking gas samples and doing gravity measurements at the crater rim. Nine people were killed, six of them scientists participating in the workshop.
