Thread: A mysterious meteorite

    Default A mysterious meteorite

A mysterious meteorite, about 2 meters in diameter, has crashed into a motorcycle in the middle of a Siam Square street arousing great curiosity among many young passers-by in Bangkok’s premier teen hang-out. Some of the excited teens were seen to be taking photos with the strange rock.

I'd say it's mysterious. How'd it get there with such limited damage to the surrounding area if it was a meteor? As for being a meteorite, it looks more like a piece of space junk debris - or even more like an escaped piece of trashed equipment being hauled off from a local laundry.

How does one take photos WITH a rock?

I always assumed you needed a camera

Real considerate of that "meteorite" to not even leave a dent in the ground.

File this one away with the famous Fossman "meteorite".

Yup... very 'mysterious' that there would be no crater, even from a rock that size just falling at terminal velocity.

....I'd say it very 'mysteriously' rolled off the back of a truck!!

You shouldn't take it for granite that a meteor would leave a crater. It's possible the meteor could be made of pumice, even though you might think it's a load of schist.

Patron to barkeeper: Give me a meteorlite!

    Barkeeper: Here's some some pumice.

Patron: No I meant a Fossman Lite!

Barkeeper: Oh, why didn't you say? (floats a beer glass full of Permian fossils to the patron).

    Patron: Tastes great! Less mass!

Good thing that "meteorite" didn't hit anyone. Shale we call a near mass?

Somehow I have a feeling the perpetrators sold this to the media and it was chondrite into the headlines.

The "mysterious" thing is how anyone could think that it's a meteor.

All this wordclay is getting a little tuff to handle. The other thread already used all the good ones, shale I graphite out how often they appeared? Now, you have to come to a new thread and muddy up this blank slate. Quartz up with that?
