Default Dust, dust, everywhere dust..........and a flower!

    Hi all,

I took an image of this region in Cepheus late last summer, but I wasn't happy with it so I decided to try again - this time with my 12" f/3.8 newtonian astrograph (my actual f-ratio is f/3.51 with the Wynne corrector).

This is NGC7023 and its surrounding dust clouds. I have a version (not on my website) that has been pushed and there are knots and clouds of dust everywhere!

I hope you like it. Comment and criticism are always welcome.

Wow. Puts that CGI wormhole from Star Trek to shame.

Wait a few days and try again. Maybe all that dust will blow out of the way and you'll get a decent shot.

In addition to the beautiful Iris Nebula, the shadings, and lights and darks within the dark dust clouds are breathtaking too. Thanks!

I've actually looked at ultraviolet spectra of the central star of that nebula, HD200775. It has lots of dust, CO and H2 in the cloud surrounding it. Awesome photo!! Downloaded it for a desktop image.
