Ok. . . I've put this off long enough. I know I'll probably regret asking, but every time I come to this forum, I ask myself what the heck does "no doughnut" mean???

I still haven't been able to answer myself. Wally.

I think its a reference to the phrase "Bad cop! No doughnut!".

Now, when and where it was first used, I do not know.

I always thought it started out as "Bad dog! No biscuit!" The cop one is a derivative of that.

Perhaps it's a lament for Hollywood's lack of interest in this?

Probably nothing to do with this, but a star in an out of focus telescope appears as a "donut."

Derivative of "Bad Dog, No Biscuit" applied (originally) to police.

The song "Bad Dog, No Biscuit", although not the first place this phrase was mentioned, was performed by Daron Norwood.
