Did anyone catch the recently aired segment of this (A&E) program that focused on the Hubble Space Telescope? I taped it from last weekend, just watched it last night, and was impressed with how well it was done. I remember that there was one minor statement that I would have argued with, but I can't even remember what it was now. But the presenter, Joan Lunden, took the viewer into the clean room and the control center at Goddard (which I've seen in person) as well as to the Science Institute (which I haven't), providing some very good "behind the scenes" insight into how it all works without any errors or overdramatizations. Overall, I thought it was very well done.

I think the funniest part for me was when she went to the Space Telescope Science Institute. "And how is Hubble managed? We went behind closed doors..." Well, the doors were in fact closed, but it's not like Fort Knox. You can just walk in.

I'll be at STScI in a couple of weeks, visiting some old friends. I wonder what they thought about the show?

Okay, well, there was a little bit of overdramatization. At least at Goddard she was really "behind closed doors" in the clean room and the control center.
