Sounds like Destination Moon with Dick Wesson as "Joe Sweeney" supplying the comic relief. I haven't watched my tape of it in years. Have to find it to verify this.

No, not Destination Moon.
First clue: This movie was made in the New Century. (i.e. since 2000)

You mean "since 2001".

Then it would be Fantastic Four, Ernie speaking about (Ben Grimm). "Mook" instead of "guy"...

Well, mook makes all the difference in the world. (at least it would of had I known it was in the quote.)

Please, lets have accurate quotes...or if not, at least indicate that they are not entirely accurate....m'kay?

OK, Mak..lets see if you can stump me.

I'm sorry, I didn't remember the exact words.

I want to apologise for putting so much "emphasis" on that...I was a bit "grumpy" yesterday...

...and now I get my come-uppance as I don't have a clue as to what the "answer" to Mak's quote is...(and I have a feeling I'm going to kick myself when I do learn the answer. )

Sounds familiar. Aren't they talking about the meteor in the 50's version of "War of the Worlds?"

Good guess, but that's not it.

BTW, that's one movie I'd like to see restored and reissued, but only after the wires holding up the Martian machines had been removed digitally. Those wires are the glaring fx flaw in the movie. The rest ain't bad. Sure beats the remake done on cruise control.

Not Gojira, but the straw is growing in the correct country.

Couple of good WAGs, but, 'fraid not.

Hint One: The conversation is occurring between a scientist and a military officer.

Wrong country/location. It takes place in Japan, as alluded to in the previous posts.

Meanwhile there was always something spooky about radioactive carrots...
