Yes, the monster in question is Mogera, but, shame on you for cheating! Part of your punishment will be to know that it's not G vs SG!

I hang my head in shame and hope I suffer the gout in punishment. If the movie in question wasn't Godzilla vs. Space Godzilla, then it remains a mystery to me. I was really hoping the answer would involve Dogora, who was not only a giant, space-faring jellyfish, but apparently came to Earth to eat our diamonds. Hollywood may have its re-remakes, but the Japanese film industry has, well, giant, diamond-eating, space-faring jellyfish!

Darn shame it's a mystery to you.

As I once said to a 10-year-old acquaintance who was running with the wrong crowd and was arrested for armed robbery, "Chick, you boy-gun! Don't you know any better?" He got off due to being a minor. He later reformed, purchased 3 kilometers of land, joined a retro Mormon sect, and wound up with five women.

Humm, One head, ancient armor and a protector of children. I think someone already guess this, but it is Gamera?

That giant quasi-terrapin is courtesy of Daiei Motion Picture Company/Kadokawa Pictures, whereas this guy is from Toho and stomps/fries everybody, including children!

Final Hint: Check out the italicized word in my previous post.

Probably questioning your spelling.

I know I shouldn't do this, but...taking a cue (although hard to discern due to all the JPEG artifacts) from Hoagland, here's the first and last hyperhint.

This is the first appearance of Mogera in the subject movie:

I wasn't going to do this since I did cheat, but...The Mysterians.

Was it true that Honda was going to go back and do a prequel Mogera movie called simply, "?", and then package the two movies in a special two-disc DVD set? The story I heard was that for some legal reason, he was unable to do so and shed nearly 100 tears.

Yes, it's the greatest science-fiction picture ever conceived by the mind of man! You're next!

The problem there was their legal budget was so small they could only afford lawyers who would work for a song.

With recommendation like that, I now feel compelled to track down the movie.

In the meantime, here is my quote. It is from one of my favorite movies and probably won't take long for someone to answer. Incidentally, neither Gojira nor Mogera appear in this movie.

Heck, it says that on the DVD cover, so it's got to be true!

Yes, Flash Gordon -- the best bad movie ever made! The quote I used, uttered by Doctor Zarkov, is right up there with "I'm not!" from Life of Brian as my favorite movie quotes.

Your turn, Alasdhair.

This sounds like it might be from The Incredibles.

Sounds like my foot, that is from The Incredibles.

At first I was thinking about a similar line from Syndrome later in the movie. I had forgotten about this exchange between Dash and Helen earlier on.

Absolutely correct: The Incredibles it is, Dash muttering under his breath.

AIUI, the first right answer counts, so it's ABR.'s turn...

Thanks, Alasdhair. I rewatched The Incredibles today with the kids. Fun stuff. I didn't spot Doc Hudson from Cars, though, nor did I see the Pizza Planet truck. Maybe next time.

In the meantime, I need to provide a quote.

Quote:
You have caused confusion and delay!
Just kidding, just kidding -- don't bother answering. My condolences to those of you who instantly recognized that one.

Let me give a slightly better quote. This movie has been used before -- sorry about that -- but so has every other movie I thought about quoting. Looks like I'll have to spend some time with the VCR and DVD player before I try answering another quote in this contest!

Is it a lack of ships, Commander, or a lack of resolve?
