Before this thread is locked, why don't we switch back to movies? Next thing you know we will be headed for Venus byway of New Orleans.

Marksutov, congratulations, It was indeed Fantastic Voyage, one of the best straight sci-fi movies ever made.

You are now in the hot seat!

Right genre, but a different movie.

When I go into the Woods, I get attacked by old vampires and beasts from the flats. How about you?

Same here, although I find that eight legs are better than two when one had planned to be out driving but forgot the motivation.

Bride of the Atom?
You got it! That's what director Edward D. Wood, Jr. wanted to call it and was the working title during the shooting. It's even part of a line from Lugosi to King towards the end of the movie. Producer Donald E. McCoy was an early anti-nuke, and insisted the title be changed to Bride of the Monster.

Over to you, people person!

Thanks Maksutov.
I had the scene from Wood's film in my head but I was actually recalling the scene in ED WOOD with Johnny Depp pitching the idea to the less-than-impressed studio head, when I typed my guess.

ok...here's one from the awesome era when neighborhoods suddenly started sprouting things called "VIDEO STORES". You could pay five bucks or so and actually take home a video cassette tape of a movie and watch it as many times as you liked(just have it back to the store by 5 PM the next day).

In the 80's, this flick was generally considered science fiction...

char 2: File under repair? Did you break your file, Frank?

I left the name in the quote as a tiny help, but more because it makes the line more aurally pleasing.

Nitpick: Before Asimov came to America his name was spelled Исаак Озимов.
Which should have been transliterated as Isaak Ozimov.

The FAQ says Aзимов. And I think that "Isaac" is an appropriate transliteration since it's the standard English version of the same name, and Russian doesn't have an equivalent "c". It does seem that it really should have been "Azimov", though.

Is there a reason why I'm seeing "upright rectangles" instead of letters...like this...

The FAQ says Aзимов
Is it just something weird with my system??

Do you mean after "The FAQ says"? There are Cyrillic letters there, showing Asimov's name in his native Russian. Your browser probably can't read them. (I had the same trouble with Chinese characters in Windows recently, but not in Linux-both with Firefox.)
