There is some kind of error on the site. The comic pops and then is removed and another page pops with a note saying the webmaster is aware of the problem and it will be corrected. Whateva?

I just checked it again, from the link in my earlier post, and it worked just fine. But since I'm the one who put the link there in the first place, I'm probably not the person who should be testing this. Anyone else having a problem, or having no problem?

Me, too. But I think that the Frank and Ernest strip is poking fun at bad astronomy, not an example of bad astronomy itself.

Well, really, it's just having fun with malapropisms, which they do from time to time. It's just a series of very bad puns, which is why I put "Bad" in quotes in the subject, and indicated that it was just being silly.

Okay, I have to ask . . . how does one know, from looking at this picture, that the 'scope is backwards?

In a Newtonian telescope like the one pictured, the eyepiece is near the top of the telescope, opposite the main mirror (called the primary). So basically, that guy is standing in front of the hole that lets light into the telescope, and the back end (which is blocked by the primary) is facing the alien.

Hahhahahahah

That looks like a caption contest waiting to happen. Maybe we should make an ad with somebody lighting the filter end of a cigarette.

"Wow, look at all those bacteria on my shirt!"

Yes, I know it doesn't work like a microscope, but it adds to the silliness.
