When there's one maverick scientist (usually extremely attractive) who predicts an immediate disaster, only to be told "That's impossible!" by every other mainstream scientist, and is believed only by an equally good looking reporter, and they both then go directly to the site of said disaster so that they can barely escape in time!

Of course, the thing they predict usually is impossible, or at least wildly exaggerated. But that's Hollywood.

Martial artists that make vocal sounds to go along with their moves, e.g. "Hua!", "Hi-ya!", "Cha!" and "Ni-ya!". Seriously, what's the point of this? One would think the element of surprise would be more important.

Tapping the bad guy on the shoulder so he turns around to be punched. How about just choke him from behind?

Bad timing?

Or, if it is Jake Speed, he does it because it is more dramatic that way.

David.

Sloppy, noisy eating (often including but not always limited to talking while eating) as a symbol for evilness!

That's actually taught in some real martial arts. It's called a Kiai.

It has been explained to me that making whooshing noises with my mouth when I move my hands through the air isn't proper application of this technique.

My method is to make lightsaber sounds while swinging a cardboard tube. Works for me.

Even they, however, would say that it's not to be done while sneaking up on an opponent or when trying to hide from him... or during every single movement you make... or while striking poses at each other before the fight or between "rounds"...

KUNG FU JOE (shouting) :Mr. Big! He killed my Master! (punches air)WHYWHYWHYWHYWHYYYY!

(pulls out a picture of Bruce Lee)

JACK: Wow! Master Lee taught you Kung Fu?

KUNG FU JOE: No, acting!

Or better yet, hit them on the back of the head with a rock or pipe (they might get out of a choke).

A woman's hair color and breast size are in direct correlation with how many times she falls down while running from the monster/bad guy.(This also applies to the chance that she will run upstairs instead out of the house.)

If the hero is a pilot he'll fly in at high speed to strafe a target yet the rounds are spaced less that a foot apart.

If it's a teen/college movie and there is a party with a Keg the same magic that gives guns infinate bullets keeps the keg from getting kicked (emptied) dispite 200-300 people partaking.

And pass harmlessly to either side of the target, hitting the ground in front of him, even if the person is directly in the path of the bullets.

Not read all of the posts in this thread, so excuse me if this has already been said.

One of the most tired and cheesy cliches that annoys me in films is when the hero (or, especially, superhero) carries/picks up/stops in front of the US flag.

Ah, you're just jealous that there aren't any Scottish SuperHeros.

Default Wolfsbane

There's always Rahne Sinclair / Wolfsbane. She's a Scottish mutant in the Marvel Universe.

Often goes along with the evil character being ugly.

If an evil person is socially powerful, they're probably not too bad looking. Of course there's exceptions to this rule, like Donald Trump, but there's exceptions to just about every rule.
