Well, he is above all an evil scientist, not an economist. He doesn't "do" finances; it's not his bag.

All rebellions in future dystopias will be led by pretty girls in skimpy uniforms.

Mad scientists work alone, creating mind-boggling inventions with no staff*, no grants, no lab work, a few years' solitary research and based on a theory that he developed alone, with no experimental evidence. The only prototype works immediately, of course.

*Hunchbacked gravedigger/lackey sold seperately. Though he tends to eat the tissue samples if left unsupervised.

And all future versions of presently wimpy or ineffectual characters will be tough, stoic, hardcore warriors. (Sarah Connor, Future Hiro, etc.)

As a joke, in a comic I drew, there's this line:
HUGO: Where's the leader of this rebel base?
TERESA: That would be me, Teresa Von Braun.
HUGO: Very funny, you're nowhere near pretty enough to be a female rebel leader.

So he insults the leader of armed revolutionaries in their own base. I'm guessing his powers do not include super-intelligence.

You'd think he'd remember what her ancestor did to London, too.

If you sneak into somebody's room and search their stuff, you will get caught.

Terrorists and other bad guys who speak a native language other than English will still speak English to one another if they are discussing important plot points.

That may just be a side-effect of ATVAFT-- Automatic Television And Film Translation. It's a cinematic shortcut for the convenience of the audience.

Better than the inverse: ugly, fat, hairy men in speedos.

Yes, but it gets a bit silly when they speak another language to all the extras and then immediately cut to English to speak the plot points to the other speaking parts, then go immediately back to some other language.

Booby traps that have been in place for centuries and show their effectiveness by having a pile of skeletons at their base, yet never need anyone around to reset them.

Booby traps that are centuries old that use running water as a key element, yet never show any signs of erosion on the stone.

I saw National Treasure this weekend, but it can apply to just about any treasure hunting film.

And the Heroes never happen upon them in times of drought.
