I don't know what a Divine Shadow is, not having seen much of the series, but from what I did see, Kai seemed Nazgul-like.

I just saw an interview with George Lucas who said he was influenced by the robot Maria when creating C3PO. He was responding to the question "Did you model C3PO after the robot in Forbidden Planet?" So maybe yet another linkage to the robot list?
