I'm what you call precocious. Let's just say I want to fly to the moon, but I'm to young to drive the rocket.

Default New Apollo Documentary on Channel this Saturday (8pm May 31st) UK

I thought this might interest people here - a new Apollo documentary featuring interviews with all the surviving Apollo astronauts is being screened this Saturday on Channel 4 at 8pm in the UK

In The Shadow Of The Moon

In the entire history of mankind, only a handful of human beings have walked on another world. In a unique new film, surviving Apollo astronauts tell their stories.

I've seen it, and it's wonderful. I urge everyone to watch it. Be sure to stay tuned for the closing credits, during which the astronauts have some candid comments about those who think it was all a hoax.

Thanks for the heads-up, aces!

Pre ordered the DVD to get it as soon as it was released in the UK. Very good as well.

I can already hear the howls of derision in certain quarters when I heard it was being aired on terrestrial TV.

I found it at amazon for a mere $15. I went shopping around, bought a bunch of flicks and forgot to order it. Came back, saw this thread, slapped forehead and scampered back to order it. Tried to combine with the rest, was unable to do so. So now it'll be in it's own little box, winging it's way to me, hopefully before the day is out.

Sigh you all get it on TV, we only got it in a handfull of theatres, and unfortunately not the one here. Have to wait for it to come out on Zone 4 DVD (yeah right) or hope to catch it while I'm in the States (which will be end of the month, woohoo!)

I was so looking forward to it coming to UK tv, but I forgot when it was on and we were away at the time and I forgot to set the digital TV recorder. However, I have looked it up on Channel 4 On Demand and it is still there and so it is now streaming to download as I write this!!! Can't wait!!!! Only 671Mb, and 150mb done already....

Why wait for a specific region release? It's easy to bypass region encoding, without breaking any laws!

First, buy a cheap, unknown-brand DVD player. (These are so cheap these days, you can probably find one in your next box of cereal.)

Next, "google" that brand and model number. There are sites that will describe how to turn off region-encoding for that brand. (And no, that doesn't involve exotic tools, not even a screwdriver. Just a sequence of button-presses on the remote control.)

Lastly, press that sequence of buttons, and voila, you can watch any DVD from any region.

OK, so you should probably look up the codes before you buy a particular player, just in case you get one that doesn't "unlock". Do not buy a well-known brand - these seldom if ever have unlock codes, because the appropriate licencing body checks up on them more carefully.

And it's not (AFAIK, IANAL) illegal, because featuring an unlocking ability is a contractual matter between the maker and the body that licences the DVD brand. You're not allowed to use the DVD logo if you don't permanently lock your player at the factory.

Of course, I could be wrong. The DMCA is both draconian and overly broad, so USAians might not be able to do this legally.

I owned a DVD player--well, I still do, but it's currently pretending there's no such thing as a DVD--that bragged about being region-free. It's possible to buy them with no having to look anything up involved. It told me the code in the owner's manual.

Yeah, unforunately, that's the risk of buying el-cheapo brands, I shoulda mentioned it: The quality often stinks (like a rotten herring's underwear in a heatwave.)

I didn't know there were brands so open about being region-free. No such thing here, AFAIK.
