Default Best Episode of Star Trek (original series):Round 1k

The episodes are being presented in order of numbering. The airdates are in a slightly different order. This is the last of the second season.

Episode Title: 'Return to Tomorrow'
Synopsis: "The last alien survivors of a devastating war, who have lived as pure energy beings for centuries, borrow the bodies of crewmembers to build android forms to house their consciousnesses. But one of them doesn't intend to give back the body he has borrowed...specifically, Spock's."

Episode Title: 'Patterns of Force'
Synopsis: "Kirk and Spock are horrified to discover that a Federation advisor has experimented with controlling a planet by declaring himself Fuhrer and recreating Nazi Germany, down to the uniforms and racial hatred being perpetrated against a neighboring planet."

Episode Title: 'The Ultimate Computer'
Synopsis: "The inventor of duotronics, which comprise the "brain" of the Enterprise computer, comes on board with his latest creation - a computer capable of running the starship without needing a captain."

Episode Title: 'The Omega Glory'
Synopsis: "Kirk and Spock encounter a power-hungry captain who has violated the Prime Directive on a planet where rebels with a Constitution battle against an oppressive collective."

Episode Title: 'Assignment: Earth'
Synopsis: "When the Enterprise goes back to the 20th Century to do research, the crew discovers an alien infiltrator trying to interfere with the test of a missile that could ignite the Cold War into a very hot war."

OK, this is a lousy list. Two psuedo-histories and another race that possesses the crew.
I really had a hard time finding 'The Ultimate Computer' interesting. I think it 's really been dated by 40 years of improving computers.

'Assignment: Earth' is probably my favorite Trek time travel story.

"Assignment: Earth" was a pilot for spinoff series that didn't go anywhere. I liked that episode (and notice the very young Terri Garr.)

I liked "Return to Tomorrow" but it wasn't one of my favorites.

"The Ultimate Computer" is another example of '60s thinking about computers (taking over jobs, very dangerous) but I liked some of the aspects of the story.
