Default Best Episode of Star Trek (original series):Round 1p

The episodes are being presented in order of numbering. The airdates are in a slightly different order. This is the last poll of the first round.

Episode Title: 'Requiem for Methuselah'
Synopsis: "Kirk, Spock and McCoy beam down to a privately owned planet where they meet an immortal human who was once Da Vinci and Brahms, as well as his lovely daughter, with whom Kirk falls in love before learning that she is actually an android created to be an eternal companion for the lonely man."

Episode Title: 'The Savage Curtain'
Synopsis: "An alien sets up the ultimate confrontation between good and evil, forcing Kirk, Spock, Abraham Lincoln, and Vulcan philosopher Surak to fight against four of the most evil beings ever to haunt the galaxy."

Episode Title: 'All Our Yesterdays'
Synopsis: "When the ship visits a star about to go supernova, the crew learns that the entire population of its inhabited world have escaped into the planet's past. But Kirk accidentally steps through a time portal, and when Spock and McCoy try to retrieve him, they end up in an even earlier era, where Spock's savage Vulcan past reasserts itself."

Episode Title: 'Turnabout Intruder'
Synopsis: "A jilted lover of Kirk's who has always wanted to command a starship forces him via an alien machine to switch bodies with her, trapping him in her dying form while she takes over the ship. But her behavior quickly causes suspicion, and Spock mind-melds with the woman to discover Kirk's consciousness within."

Requiem is an interesting story. TNG did a version that was only slightly better.

Yesterdays started off better than it ended (that seemed to happen a lot in Star Trek) but was another good story.

Intruder lost me at the misogyny.

Loved Requiem and Yesterdays, both stories that have survived the passage of time in my mind

I think all of these are good, although "The Savage Curtain" is a bit cheesy.

'Requiem for Methuselah' had one of my favorite moments in TOS: "Forget..."
