Default The Return of Planet-X: Wormwood (Paperback)

The Return of Planet-X: Wormwood (Paperback)
by Jason Q. Rand

This book just released today on Amazon - in the Science / Astronomy section. It looks to include every single doomsday prophecy (that hasnt already passed, that is) and sets a new date for the Planet X crossing.

I wish the public didnt have an appetite for drivel like this, or that it would at least be listed in the fiction section of sites like Amazon.

It's been Doomsday at least three times since I was born and I'm still here.

Guys: I have posted a critical review on Amazon.....This book is amazingly bad, and words almost fail me in describing this magnum opus...

Dr. Jason Q. Rand received his Honorary Ph.D. in the field of Energy Informative Sciences at the Academy of Energy Informative Sciences through Moscow University, Russia.
This says all I need to know about the author. A Ph.D., sure, but in neither astronomy, history, archaeology, nor mythology, and honorary, no less.

FWIW, the reviews (all two of 'em) are unanimously negative.

As I said before, I have studied your system extensivley, humans, and Planet X does not exist. I would tell the author, but I doubt he would believe a letter that started with "Dear Sir, I am an anthropologist, born in the Vegan system..."

Poor ol' Sitchin must be fuming - all these folk making claims (and money) about his imaginary planet ...... and he can't even cash in on it himself because according to his calculations, Nibiru doesn't return for another 900 years!

Aha...now someone has posted a review on Amazon that gushes about how Rand has taken "Facts from the geologic record" to write his book...sigh.

Oh, his degree from Joe Stalin U is in Geology?? I thought it was like Dr. Carlton Fredericks' degree, which was at least a real one, in "Marketing to Housewives".....I guess today they call it something else, "Media Manipulation" or something like that...

The Late,Great,Jean Shepherd (Christmas Story) was correct, this is the "Age of Dildockery" for sure.....That particular review said nothing real, just a bunch of words strung together, when I see the reaction to something like this, I feel like a "Christian Scientist with Appendicitis", positive thoughts will not change this situation, no matter how many or how profound....I wonder if the Hoi Polloi is really that gullible??

Default Two things...

First .....sadly, the tin foil hat brigade types really tear down the credibility of information like this.... from all sources, true or not. What we need is sane, scientific proof as to whether there is actually a rogue planet heading this way or not ...and if so, what to do. So someone wrote a book, as many people have. As to which category it should fall, well ...sounds subjective. I'm a little embarrassed for this guy for feeling the need to up-play his honorary degree in a totally non related field to try and seem more credible than he is...That's a good way to set yourself up to be a walking punchline.
Secondly, it would be an awful shame if humanity were to be wiped out. Its comparable to an infant dying just as its beginning to take its first steps. We're such a young species... just beginning to get the big picture on the difference between right and wrong. If we could just have about another couple thousand years to grow before the universe starts smacking us around...I mean, at least let us advance enough to have a fighting chance.....I feel kind of like those little sea turtles struggling to get to the water before the seagulls swoop down and snatch us up. I know we're petty, messy, greedy and down right mean sometimes, but there really is the potential for greatness. Its just not fair to be wiped out without ever getting a chance to reach our potential or at least having the option to wipe ourselves out...that way at least its our own doing...I guess this comment ended up longer than planned. My apologies to anyone it may have annoyed.

I mean its been a year and half? Or did the author just go with 2012 as the old reliable?

The description on Amazon says "the author believes Planet-X will first return in 2009 and again in 2012." So get your tin-foil hats ready.

Interestingly, the author's first name is spelled "Jaysen" on the book cover image and at the top of the page, but "Jason" in the "About the Author" section.

Default yeah, yeah

I know, old thread. Maybe my two cents is worth more since its got some age on it, hehe. I was actually searching for credible info on the whole rogue planet subject, (which seems to be in very short supply), and came across this thread. I wonder how many of these books this guy sold.

Ur dumb dude and those dooms days were made up at random and there were no facts to them. Plus dont even relate Y2k to any of this because u cant. 2012 has facts and millions of people know its gonna happen.AdHom removed. Do some damn research and look in the sky at dawn and dusk and you will see a bright object. And its not Jupiter or the north star its planet x

rippyness, please refrain from name calling to other members of this forum, consider this a warning, the next time it may be a suspension or a ban if your rudeness continues. chrissy

If I'm reading this correctly, all the "other" doomsday dates were wrong, but the 2012 date isn't?

Venus, perhaps?

The members here have done the research, and have not found any evidence for the existance of "planet x".

Can you provide that evidence?

For an object to be seen both at dawn and dusk, it would have to switch the side of the sun it's on. So you're seeing Venus and some other planet/star, not the same object twice.

What facts are you referring to? I've yet to see any factual support for 2012 doomsday claims . . . or are you just saying it's a fact that there will be a year 2012?

Please provide an astronomical ephemeris for your claimed object. Are you claiming a single object that is visible at dawn and dusk on the same day?

It is possible for Venus to be seen at dusk and at dawn. This happened at the end of 2009 March when the Venus passed 8 degrees north of the Sun at inferior conjunction. I've also read that Sirius can sometimes be seen at both times from places in the Southern Hemisphere.
