Default I Am Legend (again?)

I recall seeing a thread about this before and I searched, but the search engine wouldn't all me to use "I" or "Am"...

So...is this a remake?

I'm guessing the plot is, Will Smith wakes up/arrives in the future and he's the last human on Earth (or at least in New York) and some one told me there was something about mutants...

Am I close?

Pete

Although technically a remake, I believe it is going to be the first faithful adaptation of the Richard Mattheson (sp?) novel.

In which case, he won't wake up or arrive in the future. He'll be the one who has managed to avoid the vampire plague.

Of course, it might be an action flick with only the most tenuous of links to the book, and be no more standout than the other adaptations. Which would be a shame.

Here:

I Am Legend

Was that a Google search? I used the search terms:
smith legend
but the quoted string:
"I am legend"
also turned it up.

Yes.

Not that close. Have you seen "Omega Man"? It looks pretty similar, but with a modern twist. From what I can gather (I haven't seen much other than the trailer) it looks like this time it's terrorists (rather than world war) that release the disease. Most survivors, if it is like the previous movie, are insane and slowly dying.

Pretty good synopsis of the novel can be found here...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/I_Am_Legend

I hope the film sticks to the storyline, if so should be fairly good.

The trailer looks decent so I have high hopes for it.

I heard in the NY Times that the plague was accidentally created to cure another disease.

... as long as its more faithful to the original material than "I, Robot" was....

;-)

I happened to find the original Vincent Price "Last Man on Earth" in a bargain DVD bin a few weeks ago for a couple of dollars.

Which one? There is the google search in the upper right hand corner (that's what I used) and the search from the menu bar (I almost never use that).

Third interation, "Last Man On Earth" with Vincent Price being the first, and "Omega Man" being the second. This one could be interesting depending on how closely they follow Mathesons' storyline, particularly the ending.
An interesting comparison between the original novel and the various films-

Fourth interaction.

This is a comment from a site where "I am Omega" could be pirated:

This is the worst film i've ever seen....The acting is bad....the script is poor and it's just a complete waste of film....i know it's free and thanks to loder the bot for doing it.....but seriously....if you're thinking of downloading this....i'd advise you to go and gouge out your eyes with a rusty spoon.....it'll hurt less

Iteration! No "n" before the "t", no "c" anywhere.

The I, Robot film, like Starship Troopers, was an attempt to tack on a famous book title, and a few incidental concepts from the book, to an existing second-rate generic sci-fi script. I think I Am Legend is using a purpose-written script.

And soon there will be a direct-to-video sequel, I Am Still Legend.

Wasn't the autobiography of former British politician Michael Foot called I Am Leg End?

The original title of The Incredible Shrinking Man was I Am Lessened.

And The Amazing Colossal Man was going to be called I Am Lengthened, but the censorship laws were much stricter back then...
