Nobody knows, Iron man
My favorite part of the movie is the climatic fight with his arch nemesis, HCl. Good thing Stainless Boy shows up at the last moment!

The Onion clip is worth watching again just for the screen crawl.

Why? It's in the comics, you know.

i didn't read them.
the flying stuff just makes it a bit silly for me.. its like X-Men. it tries to be serious, but you can't get over the fact that there's a big, blue hairy man who looks like Frasier Crane..

Patrick Stewart said one big perk in playing Charles Xavier was the fact that he already looked the part. He showed up for work, slapped on minimal makeup and BAM! Professor X is in the house!

That, and Xavier got to wear regular clothes, not tight-fitting uncomfortable uniforms like Picard.

You sound like my grandmother. She saw part of an episode of Star Trek once. This is the conversation that resulted:

Grandma: "Who is that guy, and why does he have those bumps on his forehead?"
Me: "Oh, that's Worf. He's an alien."
Grandma: "Tsk, that's just silly."

It's called "fantasy", it's not like it's trying to pretend to be a documentary. You'll miss out on a lot of fun movies if you limit yourself to just the ones that are strictly bound by realism.

Are you trying to tell me that they weren't historical documents???

hey, i like fantasy. the silmarillion is my favourite book.
but when they try and make it serious, in the real world, when there are blue furry people and capes.. nope i can't take it seriously.
don't think i limit myself. i love sci-fi, but it needs to be either rooted in reality and believable, or if it's something not believable in the real world it needs to be taken out of reality (i.e. sci-fi or fantasy). i think the X-Men crosses the line between sci-fi and fantasy to the point where it is doesn't make sense in either genre. so i think it fails in that respect.

that conversation sounds like one i'd have with my own mother.

I know what you mean. As I began to write my Fantastic Four story, part of me kept going "Why does it matter that you've got all of the stuff about Virgin Galactic correct if you're going to have a guy turn into solid rock later on?"

Rule 1 for fantasy: It is not real life

Rule 2 for fantasy: Is is still not real life

I have gotten to the point that as long as they dont try to explain anything, I dont have any problem with them tossing the rules of physics out the window.

I did see it last night, and Robert Downey does make a very good Tony Stark. Stay till after the credits!
