Default Indiana Jones

...so, does it have any astronomy?

...no really, for those who have seen it already or caught a sneak preview, was it any good? The newspapers were full today of how Cannes hated it.
I'm scared Lucas is destroying another good series here.

I'm pretty sure that Spielberg has been more involved with [two of] the Indiana Jones films than Lucas. So we can say that Lucas has only destroyed one series.

I'm also pretty sure that the kind of people that go to Cannes would also have hated the other three films, and pretty much anything that Spielberg has ever released, except maybe Schindler's List.

And sorry, I haven't seen the film, so I can't comment about any astronomy in it.

Me neither... but, if the recent skull documentaries are any clue to the movie, there's bound to be some, especially if they go into any history of the skull to set up a plot.

I thought I heard that it was well-received at Cannes, that in fact people applauded it.

Yes they did. The problem is that they applauded before seeing the movie. At least according to the AP reviewer.

But; It's not all that bad... USAToday found a 12 year old that liked it.

The movie opens in theaters worldwide on Thursday, and the Cannes screening was regarded as an early victory — there were no boos.
That's what I call a high level of standards.

Considering that this audience wasn't your average cross section, means that I won't consider the reaction.

If they found a 12 year old that liked it, I submit that is far more important to Speilberg/Lucas than its reception at Cannes, since 12 year olds are right in the demographic they are targeting. That's where the $$ is.

Harrison Ford said that he doesn't care what the critics think- he makes movies for people that actually pay to see them.
which, i guess, rules out the people that pay to go to the romantic comedy in the next theater over, and wind up leaving that one and going to the Indy movie after 10 minutes..
