Yes - and I realize the makers of a remake might want to improve special effects and add some new characters and such, but to be true to the essence of the original, they've got to keep those wooden legged tables in the saucer and find a new Thor Johnson and Vampira!

Ya gotta wonder what Elvira's doing these days...but Thor would be tough to replace. Face wanted for part with spoken lines. No acting required.

Not really. I actually met her (without makeup) a long time ago. Before she was really famous.

One of the teachers at my high school used to date her, lo, these many years ago. At least, according to school legend, which also says he brought her to class once. (I was on the school website the other day, and I think he's retired. Alas!)

Her (presumed!) age is exactly why I thought she would be perfect for a Plan 9 remake. For money saved on wardrobe (she has her own) and makeup, you could buy fancier hubcaps and thicker strings. Sometimes those were only barely visible in the original. Just think of the cool effects if you green-screened those hubcaps.

Do you suppose it would be possible for Plan 9 to supplant Plan 9 as the all-time worst film? (There's a terrifying sense of redundancy in that somehow that I also find onerus. This may require a hot toddy to keep the jiggling hubcaps at bay tonight.)

Oops, I think I hijacked the thread. Sorry, didn't mean to do that.

It is a film for the times. A powerful being from above comes with great power to save us from ourselves. Or at least our elected officials, who are going to destroy the planet. He looks human, but isn't really.
He is killed by narrow minded scared people, then he rises from the dead, and still saves us. Boy, that story never gets old.

How will Kleaanu announce that he is from a peaceful society, far beyond humanity's petty physical violence?
"Whoah... I don't know kung fu."
