Sadly, no. Googling will avail you not. I deliberately chose something googleproof. However, given the ambiguity, I shall provide a paraphrase of the next line with certain anti-google protections:

Quote:
..the other men on the couches chuckled although he couldn't see them, he watched the captain move his arm and the next thing he was aware of was that an atomic bomb went off under (characters) @ss.
If I left in the characters name, it could be googled. As I said, this is not an exact quote but close enough that someone who has read it would know it. It was a rather memorable moment in the book.

I really liked that part of the book. Must be a strange feeling...

Err, I don't have any english books here right now, so Gas Giant, if you got one ready, go ahead...
I'll be home thursday, there i'll have something to quote, but if Gas Giant doesn't have one ready, I'll go to a library or bookstore tomorrow, or google one up as a last resort.

OK, give this a go:-

Quote:
Now for the first time in Net history we have a Transcendent form, the Blight, that can effectively dominate the Beyond. Many on the Net [cites Hanse and Sandor at the Zoo] believe that it is searching for an artifact near the Bottom. Is it no wonder that this could upset the Natural Balance and provoke the recent Event?

Please write to me and tell me what you think. I don't get much mail.

Okay, I'll go:

Quote:
It was a dark and stormy night.
(This actually is a key line in a science fiction book, believe it or not.)

Hmm, I guess this discounts Bulwer-Lyttons Paul Clifford then. I don't suppose this was in the Novelization (if one was ever made) of the Star Trek Next Generation episode The Royale?

Let's just say that wasn't what I had in mind.

I'll provide two hints:

1. It's the first line in the book.
2. The book won a major mainstream literary award (i.e., not a Hugo or a Nebula).
