Default What is this "star"?

This is probably the most ignorant 5 year oldish question. But what is this bright "star" I always seen near the moon? I swear my dad told me moons ago (ha!) that it was a planet... maybe Jupiter. It's very bright. I took this bad photo at dusk in Seoul. So it shows up in the dusk sky in a big brightly lit city.

It's very difficult to tell from the photograph and not knowing the date and time it was taken.
However, to make a guess I will say Venus.

Venus is a Very bright "star" on the Plane of the Ecliptic that is so observable you can make out the phases with your naked eye ( like phases of the moon).

Also visible depending on date and time is Jupiter and Mars with the naked eye.

Get yourself a telescope and you may find yourself lifelong hooked!

Came back to add a link to a website that will go into depth about observing planets with the naked eye and when they are visible.
http://homepage.ntlworld.com/mjpowel...ye-Planets.htm
Hope you like it

And no, that wasn't a five year oldsih question.
The last five year oldish question I was asked wahs : "Why?"
The last one before that was : "Why?"
And the one before that was....

Ohhh nevermind...

ETA: I actually forgot to paste the link .. how embarrassing! I notice it has the option for Korean. I don't know how accuratte it is though. I could have clicked it and checked but it wouldn't have made any difference. I don't speak Korean.

Default Possibly Jupiter

Your photo shows the Moon a bit past first quarter, hence much too far from the Sun for your mystery object to be Venus. If this was taken the last time the Moon showed that phase, then your mystery object is probably Jupiter. Jupiter is still in about the same place, clearly visible to the south just after sunset, parked in Scorpius right above Antares.
