Hey all, its my first post here. At the beginning I want to excuse for my bad english, Its not my native language but Ill try my best
![]() Im total amateur in terms of astronomy. Im just interested in it just a bit - I like Discovery Science, books etc. Yesterday for the first time I saw something about planet called Nubiru. I read few pages, saw YouTube movies and I got a bit afraid... I have little of neurotic aproach to those kind of stuff so it really make me feel not very well. Thats why I registered to ask You guys about it, as I see you are interested in space and this kind of stuff. Im young, have family and dont want to end my life in 2012 or few years later when this planet will hit earth. You are from US mostly so you are closest to newest science magazines, NASA articles, news services etc. So is this problem actual in your country or maybe, for which I hope, its just matter of sensation seeker people like other "end of world" things. In other words can you calm me a bit.. Thanks |

We have a lot of threads on this site discussing 2012 and Nibiru. I leave it to other members to provide the links. The short answer is that both of these issues are being promoted by people who sell books and speaking engagements based on 'invented' disaster scenarios. Neither have any physical evidence supporting them, or allowing them to occur.
After the links show up, I'll close this thread.

Is this a new policy - closing redundant threads? Mind you, I'm not arguing against the idea, just curious. Especially since a member recently opened up the 179th thread on the LHC, with no new question or content, and it remains open.

Antoniseb might just mean me... so, without further ado, I present some BAUT forum topics, and allied articles, that address the predictions for year 2012:
Bad Astronomy Blog: 2012, the year nothing will happen Universe Today: 2012: No Planet X Universe Today: 2012: Planet X is not Nibiru Universe Today: 2012: No Killer Solar Flare Perhaps you can tell us if we have missed discussing some aspect of the predictions that might be troubling you.
