Default Russia's new launch vehicles ANGARA Series

To be launched from a brand new Launch Complex in Kazakhstan. According to TASS, negotiations are nearly complete.

Will this kill the US launch business by low cost outsourcing? Maybe we'll use it to go to Mars at low cost; or the Russians will.

More power to 'em. More launch vehicles + more launch sites = more competition = more affordability (a good thing)!

Default So the Russians are in town

I was just talking with Professor Boris, a senior Russian Academian/Engineer, when he dropped by for his yearly visit.

When I mentioned the Angara rocket, he rolled his eyes and said "it looks good on paper".

He did not seem to have much faith in the latest batch of Russian engineers.

He's old school, so we'll just have to see.
