Default Homesteading Mars

I just came across this event due to take place in August at MIT. I didn't even realize such a thing was being considered. So, is this just a "pipe dream" or is this really practicle?

I already have bought my 20 acres of mars at a dime an acre. Really cheap, he only problem is that I have to foot the bill to get there and claim my stake before somebody else.

A dime an acre? Hehehe. So, who has the authority to sell Mars anyway? An interesting project, btw, if it actually gets anywhere. Unfortunately, we seem to be in a period of exceptional apathy towards space exploration, and I doubt it'll get the sort of funding it needs. *sigh*

My wife and I were lucky, we bought a little place on the banks of Mangala before the rush started. Prices there are ridiculous now, we were able to sell and move to a much larger house in Chryse earlier this year. Great views when we have a barbecue.

Mind you, Meridiani's going really downhill now. All kinds of characters moving in there making the place a right tip, driving their off-road vehicles at all times of the day. I hear Gusev's gone the same way.
