Quote:
Poker Flat Research Range is the world's only scientific rocket launching facility owned by a university. Poker Flat is located approximately 30 miles north of Fairbanks, Alaska and is operated by the University of Alaska's Geophysical Institute under contract to NASA's Wallops Flight Facility, which is part of the Goddard Space Flight Center. In addition to launching sounding rockets, Poker Flat is home to many scientific instruments designed to study the arctic atmosphere and ionosphere.

You posted some interesting links. The thing that jumped out at me about this site, most of it had not been updated since june 2003!

I've been to Fairbanks and they don't suffer depression from too much to do up there. I'd figure they would have enough spare time to keep this site current, at least to the year.

Yep, I picked up the news about the Feb/March 2005 launches from another messageboard (gossip is they will launch all three as a salvo!) so I tried to find out a bit more about them and that was the best I could do.

I am glad more astronomy buff's are interested in rocketry. I think it is time for people who have stayed in their fields to demand more of their rides, and get involved in vehicle design, instead of just letting the rocket people try to get away with the same-old same-old.
