It seems that MARSIS will not be able to 'see' the newly discovered frozen lake , as this is only 45 meters deep. As I understand it, it is not very good at detecting boundaries between water ice and rock layers anyway. However, liquid water (aquifers) at depths ranging from 100 meters to 5 kilometers should stand out. If they exist, of course. |
