The Week of July 17-25 is the Anniversary of Apollo 11. In Alameda, CA there will be a week long celebration on the USS Hornet. Apparently all the astronauts of Apollo 11 will be present. so my question to all of you is ...
Which book that has been written on the topic would be the best to have them autograph. I patiently await your replies.

I do not want to confuse things, but are you talking about the first moon landing/walk? If that is the Apollo mission you are talking about then it is Apollo 11.

USS Hornet is having a 35th Anniversary for both Apollo 11 & 12. Apollo 11 was in July and Apollo 12 was in November.
here's the site, in case my information is too confusing. http://uss-hornet.org/

Hey Polly
Good question - and lucky you!! Can you get a book autographed for me too?? ![]() A shame Pete Conrad is no longer with us - he died almost exactly 5 years ago, but from what I know, he didn't like to talk about his moon landing anyway. He considered his Skylab mission to be the high point of his career. Al Bean, on the other hand, loves it. He's the one who has since become an artist and he always puts a little something from his moon walk into all his paintings. For example, he might sprinkle a little moon dust onto the canvas, or make a footprint with his boot in the paint. Dick Gordon, the CM pilot, I know next to nothing about LOL The poor soul, being the one who didn't land on the moon, doesn't get much attention - but maybe he likes it that way ![]() As for things to autograph... well, if you're rich you could get the guys to autograph one of Bean's paintings... of course, Bean would have signed it already LOL Go to http://www.galleryone.com/bean_prints.htm - you can order prints of his work there. You can also order a copy of his book there: APOLLO: AN EYEWITNESS ACCOUNT - you can also get this on Amazon at http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detai...=glance&s=books Alternatively, you could get them to autograph the Apollo 12 Mission Report: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detai...=glance&s=books Lastly, I was listening to Brian Eno's superb album, "Apollo Atmospheres And Soundtracks" on my way into work tonight. This was the music used in Al Reinart's excellent documentary "For All Mankind". You could get them to sign a copy of the CD - http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detai...=glance&s=music or the DVD - http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detai...?v=glance&s=dvd (Amazon has sold out of the VHS tape... it may no longer be in production) How about taking along two things for them to sign and auctioning the second on Ebay for charity? Just a thought ![]()

You lucky bugger!! LOL :P
I have a signed hardback copy of Tom Stafford's book, "We Have Capture", but I never met the man. I bought it at the Thomas P Stafford Air & Space Museum at Weatherford, OK. I would love to meet James Lovell and Gene Kranz but if the opportunity came up to meet *any* of them, I'd jump at it.

I was thinking of making a corner of the big, rotating, artificial-gravity space station into a Special VIP Retired Astronaut's Wing.
We let them stay for free, they can give little talks for other guests in front of the window with the Earth rotating by, and you and I can corner them in the shuttle pod on the way up/down for Autographs and Tea! :P

thanks for the suggestions, the mission reports are several volumes  but i'm still deciding.
Good idea to take more than one item, I'll give it a try. ![]()
