Here's a CNN story about the planetary society's Cosmos 1 solar sail test effort.

The story doesn't say much about what the actual test will be, but the test is modest and short term. Later efforts may get minor re-designs based on the results of this test.

I think this one is the basic test. Will it deplay, will solar sails gain/lose speed based on their sun orientation, will their system from adjusting that orientation work? They're trying to answer those questions.
