A Japanese H-2A rocket will launch the country's third Information Gathering Satellite optical reconnaissance spacecraft (IGS), from the Tanegashima Launch site, Japan, on September 10th, 2006.
The satellite will be able to resolve objects a metre or more in diameter. It's mission will probably be to keep an eye on neighbouring North Korea. Japan's space agency, JAXA, has rescheduled a radar spy satellite, that was originally planned to be launched aboard the same rocket, to fly aboard its own H-2A rocket. The launch has been put back to 2006 September 11th, 12:00 to 15: 00 (JST)

The Japanese Aerospace Exploration Agency has launched the intelligence- gathering satellite from the Tanegashima Space Centre in Kagoshima Prefecture on the 11 September.
The H-2A No 10 rocket lifted off from Japan's space centre at 13:35 local time (04:35 GMT). According to officials, the satellite (NORAD 29393, 2006-037A) separated successfully from the rocket. Read more (two images at launch time)
