The falcon is back to external power and control.
It is safe and locked on the pad.

That means we're far away from launch, or is a launch on short term still possible?

I have no idea.
I would guess that they will restart at least at T-20 minutes.

Did they just say something about 10 minutes? It's very hard to understand what they're saying, IMO.

the next 10 minuted they will elaborate why the abort has taken place.
So must have been an automatic abort.

Hum,
The SpaceX island in the Atoll is named Omelek and it is about halfway up the island chain on the eastern side.
Omelek Island is located at 9.5 N, 167 E and is about 32,000 square metres (8 acres) in size. Geologically, it is composed of reef-rock, as are the other islands in the atoll

Oh that's quite large, almost as large as the Kawajalein island itself. Funny how these atolls can be so thin. But wait, 8 acres, I think I might be looking at the wrong island on the map? 32000 square meters is 16 times our garden. Nice to have a launch base on that!

I'm watching the video of it...

It looks so small.

I bet it looks much bigger if you're standing next to it!

Oh wait, it's the tiny dot in between of the 2 long islands right? Well, that looks like 8 acres indeed . Nice little island.

I'm off to bed as well. Goodnight Laguna2, everyone else. BAUT was GO, SpaceX was not. Nothing lost, we'll see what happens in the near future.

According to this article, it was a range safety telemetry glitch. They may try again as soon as tonight.

The private spaceflight firm Space Exploration Technologies (SpaceX) will have to wait at least one more day to launch its second Falcon 1 rocket after a last-minute glitch prevented a Monday attempt.

A launch range telemetry issue cropped up less than two minutes before the Falcon 1 rocket’s planned 7:45 p.m. EDT (2345 GMT) liftoff, prompting the booster to automatically halt its launch procedures, SpaceX officials said. The launch is now targeted for no earlier than Tuesday at about 7:00 p.m. EDT (2300 GMT), they added.

“The vehicle basically self-aborted,” Gwynne Shotwell, SpaceX’s vice president for business development, told reporters after the glitch.

Shotwell said that about 90 seconds before liftoff, flight controllers typically shift their communications with the Falcon 1 rocket from a land line system to a range radio frequency (RF) at SpaceX’s Omelek Island launch site on Kwajalein Atoll, which is located in the Marshall Islands on the Pacific Ocean.

“It’s possible that we were not picking up the range RF signal,” Shotwell said.

SpaceX has daily opportunities to launch the Falcon 1 rocket through March 22, with each day offering a four-hour flight window that opens at about 7:00 p.m. EDT (2300 GMT), the El Segundo, California-based firm has said.

From Spacex updates page:

Quote:
The abort that occurred a few minutes before T-0 was triggered by our ground control software. It commanded a switchover of range telemetry from landline to radio, which took place correctly, however, because of the hardware involved, this transition takes a few hundred milliseconds. Before it had time to complete, our system verification software examined state and aborted.

Our simulations done beforehand all passed, because the simulator did not account for a hardware driven delay in the transition. We considered putting the vehicle into a safe state yesterday and updating the ground control software to make the very minor fix needed, but the safer course of action was to stand down.

With a multimillion dollar launch vehicle on the line, to say nothing of the company's future, I'd say there's no such thing as too much paranoia for them. Even the big boys get delays like this because a chance not taken usually means someone isn't getting killed in the process.

Remember, these guys are stage rehearsing the eventual launch of civilian spacestations on their next generation versions of these Falcon boosters. They're sure as heck not going to impress investors taking unnecessary chances with their hardware (and lives).

No, they were going to pull the plug even if a lawyer was starting to look a bit pale.
(I'm sure that Zefram Cochran wasn't thinking about percentages aboard the Phoenix.)
