Hello all, While reading through the BA site, I didn't see any reference to amateur radio enthusiasts who used triangulation to pinpoint the location of the orbiter as it circled the moon. It was a long time ago and I was a mere lad, but I seem to remember my uncle, who was a devout hammer, saying that many hams were following the action on their home sets and could tell you in advance exactly when the orbiter would emerge from the dark side. Although this wouldn't prove that men actually walked on the moon, it would prove that they made it there. Anyone hear any mention of this? wake ~ |

Wake,
You might do some searching in the Conspiracy Theories forum. I am pretty sure there has been mention of amateur radio tracking of the Apollo spacecraft there. Some (many?) of the posters there may not notice your post in this forum, especially since no mention of Apollo nor the Moon is in the thread title. CJSF

Well, I'm a ham, been licensed since 1974. But I was only 14 then, so I didn't listen.
But hams DID listen, I remember an article about a ham in California who listened to the downlink voice transmission from the CM during one of the lunar landings. It was in either QST or 73 magazine - and since I didn't subscribe to either magazine till 1974, it had to be in '74 or '75 that I read that. But I have no idea how to search 73 magazine, since it hasn't been published since the early '90s. You can go to www.arrl.org and search past QST articles, but I THINK you'll be required to join the club (around $35 a year) to do so. On second thought, maybe it was CQ magazine.
