I'm not sure if this has been posted before, but I have just found some superb pictures taken on and around the shuttle in orbit

If you are even the tiniest shred of serious, go back there and look at those photos again. If they didn't strike something in you, you are a mechanical man.
(I think you are joking, but just in case...)

I want those lighting conditions for my next vacation pics. (no, not the 90 minutes light/dark cycle...)
![]() The depth of focus is very large in these pics, which is nice since the focus is really good, and hence the result is details all over the spacecraft. btw the tile on top of the right corner window appears to have quite some superficial damage.

Central New Zealand.
Banks Peninsula, Lyttleton Harbour and Christchurch bottom left, Golden Bay top left and Marlborough Sounds top centre. At top right is the lower North Island with the mast obscuring about half of Wellington Harbour, with muddy Lake Wairarapa to its right. The photo was taken on Thursday 14 December 2006. The following link shows more at the top, up to the area where I live at the mouth of the Rangitikei River, and Cape Turnagain (named by Captain James Cook) at far right. Full resolution version from Nasa is well worth the wait for those on dialup for the amazing detail (3032 x 2007 pixels, 1.87 MB): http://www.nasa.gov/images/content/1...19_ys_full.jpg |
