Default HiRISE finds an ancient Martian lake

As I also noted on the blog, this is (again) more evidence for non-acidic or at least less acidic and salty water in some places other than that which left behind the sulfate deposits.

In the search for evedence of life this is a nice decovery. We really dont need to find water on mars because colonizing mars is a bad idea. Water is easy to make and space station colonys present a beter enviroment for our species to spead like galactic plague.

More evidence of past water on Mars: http://hirise.lpl.arizona.edu/PSP_007095_2020
But this must be very ancient - large craters disrupt the channels.
See just above centre and to the left on the large scale phot seen when you click on the enlargement. See also the RGB colour version.

How ancient? Will the cratering provide a clue?

John
