Default US NROL28 spy satellite launch

Shh... It's a secret.

Remember the US NRO spy satellite launch that had to be delayed for fear of pieces of the spy satellite the US Navy blowed up (NROL21, USA193)?

Its time has arrived.

If anyone asks, you didn't hear it from me.

United Launch Alliance info

Quote:

Too bad they don't provide the launch time.

So wait, you can watch the launch on a web cast, but they won't tell you when it is.

Today's launch of the Atlas 5 rocket has been declared a success.

The national security payload was deployed by the rocket following liftoff from Vandenberg Air Force Base, California. It was the first Atlas 5 launch from the West Coast, which saw the Space Launch Complex-3 East (SLC-3E) pad modified to support the rocket.

Them there spy sattelites is expensive. So's security. Hiding the launch date/time helps keep down security costs.
