Default Beagle2 Coverage?

Anyone know if there will be any live media coverage or internet viewing of the Christmas day landing?

I did find a landing time.

This link promises a live video stream of the landing while this one deals with satellite coverage. These links are from the ESA, there might be other sites that will show this unfold. I plan on doing more checking before Christmas and will post them unless someone here beats me to it.

Thanks Archer.

The second link gives a great detailed schedule. However, it does not state a time zone. Would you mind converting it to UT or even central time zone time?

Regardless, it looks like the Beagle lands Chrismas Eve for us.

The times listed in the PDF files are CET (Central Europe Time) which is UTC+1. Subtract 7 hours from the times listed on that site for your location.

Thanks.

That puts landing activity begining at 7:25 pm Christmas Eve central US time and landing around 8:30 pm.

Heres the pdf file of their schedule as found in your second site location....
here

Can't wait to see if they actually will say...."The Beagle too has landed".

You know, I was thinking the other day about the name "Beagle-2."

I don't think the American space program could name a spacecraft the "Beagle-2" (or the Beagle) if we wanted to. There would be a political uproar over the fact that we'd be naming a spacecraft in honor of Darwin's voyage. Darwin, and his "theory" would have to accompanied by a biblical character's name attached to some space probe, to give it "equal time." Forget the name "Darwin" - fundamentalists would scream to high heaven over that one.

We have reached a very sad state here in the USA.

I suspect there would be less trouble than you would think. The bigger issue for the U.S. might be whether or not the probe should be named a "dog".

The British have the advantage with a name like "Beagle" as it sounds a little like the "Beatles" and that proved rather fruitful.

Then why didn't we just name it Ringo?

Hmmm. Because that sounds like "Bingo" which is a game of chance in which most loose (unless you can play 12 cards like my mother and grandmother)!
