Default I Think The ESA is Working for the Empire

ESA readies the next cargo ship for the ISS.

If you look closely at the photo on the linked page, you can see what appears to be Vader's helmet in the center. Clearly, their ATV is not they're claiming:

Its pressurised module which will hold the cargo - air, water, scientific equipment, food, and clothing - to be taken to the space station is being built in Turin, Italy.
Obviously, they're building the Death Star and plan on using it to force us to surrender.

do they have a bunch of British guys to stand around in white armor and get killed by the first random blaster shot that heads in their general direction?

I thought only the officers were British—the Stormtroopers all sound like Chevy Chase (to me, anyway).

A fully operational Death Star with a laser that destroyed a whole planet wouldn't make sense at this point in our development. You'd just end up destroying yourself, too. A less-powerful model is a different story.

Not if your plan was to blow up the Moon in order to conceal the fact that you never landed on it.

I, for one, welcome our ESA/Empire Overlords.

If you destroyed the moon, wouldn't the tides go all wonky?

no, because the mass of the moon would still be up there, and it would quickly reform. unless, of course, it was a really really big blast- then i think that the effect it would have on the tides would pale in comparison to the fiery hot death that would be raining down on the earth from above....
