SUMMARY: NASA's Spirit Rover has found a rock that seems to have been acted on by water in the past. The rock is called "Mazatzal", and lies partially buried near the rim of the Crater Bonneville; its light-toned appearance caught the eye of NASA scientists. Spirit used its rock abrasion tool to grind under the surface, and found a darker interior with a bright stripe that cut across both layers. This seems to indicate a fracture that water flowed through. More data about the rock is being transferred back to Earth while Spirit drives to Columbia Hills, located 2.3 kilometres away.

So hydrothermal deposits??? I wonder what will be found next? Also I wonder if it would be at all possible to be able to get gold veins on Mars.

this whole mars thing moves too fast, I still haven't got over the last find, and the one before that, and the one before that. Surly now it must be only a matter of time before we hit that golden find. Well done to NASA, this has been an incredibly succesful mission without a doubt- well worth whatever money it cost.
I look forward to waken up to a completly new find sometime soon!

Well we have been working on some day being abal to heat up the planet to melt the ice caps this would form ocians and rivers so we could plant plants and breath the air and heating up the atmosphere of mars we would also build up the atmosphere making it like our own in some ways.

(by the way space10 we cant e-mail you we can only post replys you can read if you click the Enable email notifecation of replies box at the botom of the space were you type your posts.)

we know there is water on Mars, ice caps. So, maybe there is life there already ? Perhaps NASA know this, which is why we've mapped and probed this planet SO much? We used to think that life couldn't live at the bottom of our own oceans, until we went there.

Thats a good point mars dose have water and there could be life there and NASA could be hiding somthing from us but on the other hand the water could be poisonus or ther just could never be or never was life there. B)

The indications showed that the rock was weathered by water. It is just proof that there was water flowing on the surface of Mars at one time in the history of Mars.

Wow!! A huge planet w/o anything living on it. What a waste of space
What's the point of putting mars in the solar system. Who created planets?

It'd be nice to have some links to some pics of more weathering features that have been found.
