Default Spirit Rover is Switched Off to Save NASA Money

To save the Mars Expedition Rover (MER) program some cash, controllers will be forced to switch one of the four-year old rovers into "hibernation mode". There must be some billionaire who would like to explore Mars, so if the rover isn't doing anything anyway NASA could auction it off on eBay. They could obviously use the money and the rover would remain useful.
