Default Doritos In Space

I'm all for the commercial use of space, but this might be a bit overboard. Back in March of this year, Ian reported on a fund raising scheme to help the United Kingdom's physics and astronomy money woes. The scheme involved soliciting commercial companies to pay for advertising being beamed into space, supposedly [...]

Oh great, so the first think ET's gonna ask when they get here is: Can we park our ship in the Wal-Mart parking lot? We've gotta stock up.

From the distance of 42 light years it appears to be 36 Ursae Majoris. Strangely this information is not given in any of the articles on the 'net that I can find.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/36_Ursae_Majoris
This is a star somewhat larger than the Sun, with no confirmed planets; a bit of a strange choice.

At 46 light years another system can be found in that general direction, 47 Ursae Majoris, with two confirmed planets and towards which two messages have already been sent.

I wonder if they have sent it to the wrong system...

What's worse, this advert doesn't change the fact that Dorritos are appalling.

Yeah, I don't really like Dorritos. And now that I know they send spam into space, I won't eat them, period.

36 Ursae Majoris is 42 light years away; if they receive the message, and set off in search of Doritos, it will be a minimum of 84 years before they arrive on Earth. By which time the Dorito company may have gone out of business, or discontinued the product. They'll arrive here and say "We have travelled far in search of salty, crispy snacks. Where are all the Doritos?" and proceed to lay waste to the Earth in frustration.

Oh, that sounds familiar...

Either that, or by then we'll have 'Super Ultra Spicy Cheesy' Doritos on the market, and totally placate them.

Or, they'll be severely allergic to sodium and they'll die off, just like in War of the Worlds. Can you image the narrative? "They came to conquer, but their love of salty snacks conquered them. Maybe they weren't so different from us after all..." (Cue Twilight Zone theme)

Oh, yeah...Now we're talking. What good is it to cruise the cosmos without salty cholesterol-laden snack food? I'm not sure how micro-Gs would effect the dipping process, though. And making nachos would probably be out of the question.
