Car crash tests have used human cadavers as well. i don't think this is still in practice anywhere but if I recall this was either a Saab and Volvo thing or perhaps a BMW thing. hmmm.

I know a number of people who have donated their bodies to University medical programs, so their remains can be used by medical students after death.

Research like this is important and you cant really leave it to 'computer simulations'....
