Silly me :P I came onto this board puffing away like a steam engine and didn't introduce myself. (Starlab B) )

My name is Tony, and here I am with my wife Lily.

I'm 29 Years old from Toronto Canada, (Mississauga)

In a alternet Universe I work for JPL h34r: I wish! It's something in life I wish I got into. So instead I follow astronomy on the net and threw books and magazines.

As some of you may reconize my avatar I'm into Transformer collecting. Love the toys! Its a great Income as its a collecters dream to get them all!

And below is My Son Amadeo! I hope he follows my interest into astronomy!
http://members.rogers.com/furiato/Allspark/Deo.jpg B)

If anyone lives in the T.O area give me a PM! Its hard to find astronomy Fans.

I posted at these Boards also.

GREAT Planetary Board. ! http://mer.rlproject.com/
I felt a little left out on this board.> http://uplink.space.com/ubbthreads.php?Cat= If your not a scientist they will stomp on any theorys you have. I keep my posts to a minimum there.

As for this board I feel at Home. You post with ease and have great threds about astronomy. And you don't have to be Carl Sagan to post! < Which reminds me about the time I talked to him on National TV, Up here in Canada. He was on Newsworld doing a Interview and there was a call in segment and I was the last one on! I asked him what he though of the Infared images of Titan being taken buy HST. I wanted his opinion about what he thought of the data. Oceans Or No oceans.

It turns out he was part of the team doing that science and was VERY happy to answer the question. It made my day!

Sadly he passed away about a month later.

Once again Hello to everyone! Looking forward to posting more Stuff!

Greetings to all carbon based, bipedal, water bags of this forum!

My name is Manuel Garcia, I reside in Cardiff, Wales (you know...that little country next door to England!), where men are men and the sheep are nervous!

I have posted a few scribbled items before introducing myself, abject apologies to all and I postrate myself before the Web Gods!

I have taken early retirement (basically 'cos I'm a lazy old git) and I pass the time by annoying as many civil (and uncivil) servants as possible.

My main aims are, in order of importance: apprentice dirty old man (not very lucrative but it annoys the blue rinse brigade), total degenarate (this frightens the local busybodies - so I get some privacy) trying to get to terms with all of this new fangled technology (those steam engines are noisy..aren't they?).

On a more serious note (?), I would like the governments of this little mudball to get their respective acts together, so that a more organised exploration of our solar system comes about...I know!!, I shouldn't hold my breath.

I greatly enjoy the posts on this site and the site itself is probably the best organised and administered that I have seen to date.

You may have gathered that I possess a rather different viewpoint or outlook on certain matters...if you are unable to laugh at the idiocy of the world around you, then go to another planet!

Anyway, that's enough from this mad scribe.

Best to all and take care (watch out for those pesky Klingons!)

Manny

Welcome Manny.

I'm sure the Klingons mean well. They're just a little proud, that's all.

Ooops... I rushed too quickly into posted discussions and did not introduce myself...
First name is Benoit, 47 yo, from Paris/France. A big fan of astronomy since I was 11, I even wanted to make it my job, postgraduated in Astrrophysics but I turned finally into IT (paycheck is better !).
And for those who can speak french, have a look on my site on Mercury:
http://scorpio711.chez.tiscali.fr/mercure/mercure.htm
(yes I know, I need to update it).
Looking forward to continue to chat & post w/ all of you on all these exciting and fascinating topics.

Oops! Feeling guilty now I've read all these intros. Charged in and posted an item without actually telling anyone who I am. I'm from West Yorkshire in sunny England! Hello to everybody. Looking forward to discussing things with you. Always had an interest in the cosmos but never got involved with any groups. Been reading Universe Today for weeks and never realised what I was missing in these forums. Talk to you soon.

thought i had introduced my self but cant find it
so here i am dozens of posts and no intro
I live in the south island of New Zealand in christ church.
the average temperature here is 10 winter and 20 summer.
this means with with a warm jersey in winter and a t shirt in summer i am nether too cold or too hot to work all day on inventing of making cellos(to pay for the inventions)

Im a 66 yr old retired and have a disabled wife (stroke right side paralisis) to look after.
she has a lovely mobility scooter that we can put in the car and go places.
(she insisted i put a accelerator on the left side so she can drive the car)
my official trade was elecrtical fitter and i got tired of that 15 years ago so taught myself violin and cello making and now making my 107 th instrument.
some of my instruments and their owners have great sucesses and are competing with the worlds best.
my main hobby is inventing and seldom a week goes by and i have invented a new tool or method of doing something better.
during the oil crisis in the 70 s i designed and built electric vehicles and went into production but as oil prices went down so did my company.

here is some of my inventions on this site
inventions

my expertese in in direct current motors and electric cars but will tackle anything eg a radio controlled corgi on a skate board is the latest.

always interested in all science and now with the help of this forum can keep up with the latest.

we have a big section and a cottage on it as well as a house.
at the moment we have a son and his wife and 3 grand children living here till they can get a house,
with live at home family and grand kids we are only 9 to feed at night.
we are a very loving and happy family and with a total of last count 18 grand children we are never lonely

With my skills and my family i have 'wealth' greater that the worlds richest people

That's nice, piersdad. And, you taught yourself to play violin and cello? I had enough trouble being taught by someone else! I have never been to New Zeland, but the setting sound lovely!

Unfortunately, the link you gave us to take a look at your inventions doesn't seem to work for me - is the URL right?

You make very much appreciated contribution to the forum - keep it up!

Lindsay - welcome to the forums! My sister used to go to Uni in Sheffield - do you live anywhere near there?
