My name is Martha Herrera. I'm from Cartago. Colombia.
I'm a Teacher in a Public High School, I teach my classes
using the Fraser's web site to my students, in two ways, first
as an English lesson second to create some interests to
the astronomy science. But personally I love to search
about the space, mars and a very interesting moon, like Io.

Hello folks,

Stewart Collinge, from England.

An admirer of Frasers pages pre html and an avid amateur astronomer since my childhood. Privileged to have known TV in its best days, watching the Apollo programme :P

The space race is over, and "forum" races do not appeal to me either.

I am looking forward to active and lively contribution / participation in the forum.
Of course, you can always visit me on my home ground in England , at:
http://www.setiuk.com/ and look in the forum.

Hello everybody, this is Oliver, a student from the Philippines.

I just discovered this site recently, and I have followed it ever since. The site is just so great! Very informative and interesting... I sometimes wonder why many people don't know this site yet.

I look forward to seeing more interesting news in the future, especially in these times, when the findings from Spirit and Opportunity are more than exciting.

Mr. Fraser, thank you for coming up with this site.

Good day to you all.

Well, the only way for more people to know about it, is if you tell everyone you know. That's just good advice that everyone should follow. :-)

Seriously, though, thanks for your kind words Oliver, welcome to the forum.

Nice going Fraser,

My name's Charlie, from Melbourne in Oz (the land down under).

I've been getting my regular daily emails for ages now, and I always look forward to my daily dose. I don't always have time to follow up each article, but even the snippets of information in the emails are informative. They help quench my thirst for space information I've had since I was a kid.

I don't get much time to browse the forums, but when I do I'm suckered right in.

Keep up the good work. :P

Funny thing, that! I suppose if you asked any one of us regulars, here, you would find us busy people (e.g. Damienpaul works 18 hours per day but is our most prolific poster.)

I think the old saying is true - "If you want something done find a busy person." - true, because a busy person manages their time productively.

Anyway - I've found in life that if you want to do something you'll FIND time to do it.

Charlie - welcome to the forum - we have a real blast, have gotten to know each other pretty well and are secretly planning to get together some time in the future for a cuppa tea and a biscuit. (But we're expecting that Faukner and The Weasel will object to the refreshments! )

Welcome chuckles!!! I hope you enjoy it in here, quite a lot of good information and some great characters in here!

And as for what chook said:

On most occasions he is spot on! Except that it is Fraser who is the one who is the prolific poster despite having a young family. He still puts the supremest effort into the forum.

But it isn't about the amount of posts that you do, its far from that, it is really what you want to get out of this forum - myself, I get the dual benefit of friends and knowledge..

Enjoy

I've been hanging around the forum for about 6 weeks now, and just realized this thread was here. Sorry for not introducing myself sooner.

I have an interest in physics and astronomy. I have a BS degree in physics from the 1970's. Since then I've been developing software, and astronomy is a hobby. I am currently working at trying to understand the math used in the Almagest. I have books by Otto Neugebauer and G. J. Toomer that are helping a lot on that front. But I have to say, long division in base-60 is a pain in the neck.

I also do technical training in the world of Java, and comic theater in the evenings. If my posts sometimes come across as a bit pompous, please forgive me, I'm trying to develop a character.
