I'm just adding a new kind of "story" to Universe Today: photo galleries. Normally I post photos on Universe Today so they're only 150 pixels wide, but people are always asking for the big pictures. So, I've got a new kind of story when the pictures look really nice.

Here's the example, which is a panoramic picture taken by the Spirit rover.
http://www.universetoday.com/am/publish/so...te.html?1112004

I've also got a link from the image to the original source, so if you want to get the original source image from NASA, you've got a link there.

Finally, I've got a link to make it your wallpaper, and a link to the photo gallery so you can buy a printed copy. Shutterfly, the company that handles printing and shipping the images, is going to be removing that big "PROOF" stamp in a couple of days, which will be a relief.

I've just got one image in this article, but I could theoretically have up to 20 if there's a collection of images released at the same time.

So, can you folks give me some feedback? Does this satisfy your need for MORE, BIGGER, BETTER pictures? Anything you'd like improved?

fantastic solution fraser, particularly if the pics have links to being wallpaper and to their original sites.

That's the plan. You get everything. A bigger image on the screen. A wallpaper, and then a link to the original source just in case you want more information from the source.

Bear with me please, I'm new to astronomy, so far I've just stood there looking at the night sky with my own eyes and my mouth open in awe. I loved the last wallpaper of 10,000 galaxies but how do I get to download the image 1024 x 768, the one I got was much smaller but still very nice. Also (this is not a complaint, please just educate me) the screen says my last visit was Mar. 12, 2004 at 07:59 p.m. My time now is 1:15 p.m. Mar. 12, 2004. Is this an error or is that the time in some other part of the world. I'm in western Canada. Hope I'm in the right forum to get this info.

Hi Fraser,

Just got back in touch with the "universe" after a year or two... HTML pages now - Wow!

Joined your fine forum also.

The pictures are fine - the site is fine.

Thanks, Stewart.

I believe that the time is in GMT, but you can change it to fit your time zone in your profile (just click on your name and go down to options).

Yep, that's correct. The forum thinks it lives in London somewhere. I figured that GMT is as universal a time as possible for a forum that should be accessible around the world.

Thanks Fraser for the modifications you've made to the pictures on the website, I've just followed your link & the image is really good! (By-the-way, it´s the same image I have been using in my MSN Messenger as my photo!!) I like the idea of a bigger, better picture & the link to the original source!

Keep up the good work!

That explains why the times of postings come up as the same time we have here in England, where I live!
