So many people complain about their lives and existence, but never
vote. Without a mouth to express an idea or concept.
Phil Plait created a site, for people, learned or not, to express their
views and opinions on science and astronomy, in the hope that those
not taught, would post their opinions, and question current thinking.
The goal being further understanding.
I believe Phil has fullfilled his endevour in this.
So to all reading this, no matter what you think of your ability, you got
an opinion, tell us, you got a different idea, no excuses, post it.

Thats quite a respectable thing to say nokton, I like that...Expecially sense I am new to the whole Astronomy and advanced science thing, I enjoy it very much to learn the ways of the future, and of the potential we have as a species. Phil indeed did a great job here, and we are all in thanks to him.

I sure do like you, Dragon Star. The OP was for Universe Today, though. It was resurrected by jkmccrann ~1.5 years later.

I do believe you are correct. Funny, now that I think about it, others must do the same thing. I've seen references to my signature (or others) and wonder why it would come into the conversation.

Candy, first things first, your sexuality interests me not, your mind does.
Your ideas and opinions represent to me your current thinking, that
is my interest in you, and value your imput. Made no mistake about ID.
Have studied crop circle parameters much, and concluded there is a
problem with current evaluation and knowledge.

Chuckles...

howzit going ppl?

It been a while for me too, ...some new faces . I have'nt been here since the combining on UT and bad astronomy. lol. Been quiet busy too - does'nt help.

those of you originally from UT will remember a certain trip to mars! Perhaps that is what we need?

For those of you who are not form UT or newly joined, a bunch of us form the old UT forum started a thread to get to know ppl on the forum - a imaginary trip to mars .

When it finished we spoke about doing it again, it didn't really materialize - everyone was quiet busy - perhaps now is a good time.

It will get us posting lol!

We just need to choose a leader and a place to visit...

lets discuss ...

All the Best

Never, Candy,
Just expressing an opinion. Visited your link, deaf are
my ears, blind are my eyes. Am an old man who never prayed to any
god, ever believed 2+2=4. Myths and dogma hold no interest for me.
I only believe in what I can learn from science, and the current teaching
of it, tho' I question every corner of it.
So disappointed with your link, my respect for you is diminished,
thought you in here to support and respect the intention of BA.

I'm glad this topic has been brought up. Personally, I have had a great deal of difficulty feeling comfortable since the combination of the BA and UT forums. It just doesn't feel as compelling as the old BA site, where I felt it necessary to visit daily. To me it seems as if the old BA forum just had a different feel, tone, and a unique authoritive style. I was never a major poster there, but I learned a lot from reading the forums.

But, it could just be me...I often find comfort in the familiar.

Default BA, your thoughts. Ulster

Ulster, you not wrong in your evaluation, feel the same.
BA's site was much more devoted to the core concept of
what BA was all about. The principal of free expression to
challenge mainstream thinking. BA's site provided a platform
unique in any science forum. He encouraged different thinking
on current concepts, driven I feel, to find truth, and expose
those who have closed minds.
The response of To Seek to my last, I feel, makes my point.
Not the type of comment I would have expected from a moderator.
Hope Phil will renew his original idea, and give you and I and many
others, the platform we need to express our ideas, and concepts.

Hi, I used to be a UT 'view new posts' daily member but since the merger there are too many stories to keep up with. Taking a few hours to see what I've been missing. My contributions were never that profound anyway.

Which BA site was that?

The Bad Astronomy web pages are devoted to airing out myths and misconceptions in astronomy and related topics. At the moment, I have no desire to tackle here such thorny topics as astrology, alternate views of the universe that are clearly in contradiction to observations, and the like.
