Fraser, I'm just curious - how much trouble would you have to go to to put a UT ad in say a magazine like NewScientist, PopSci, Nature, Science, Sky&Telescope, and SciAm? How much would it cost, and would it be worth it? (We could advertise whenever we have a well-renowned expert due to appear on the forums.

To get an ad in a magazine you'd have to have to send it in about three months in advance. My husband just got his January 2005 Hot Rod and Car and Driver in the mail. Magazines are laid out way in advance.

It seems to be a good idea, starlab. Most people that see an ad in a magazine for a website will tend to visit it thus, more members for UT!
(I never normally use thus in a sentence)

Well, an inside cover ad in Astronomy magazine costs about $11,000. Sky and Telescope is less, but still, I don't think I could recoup that kind of money with Universe Today. Essentially, I've done all my marketing through word of mouth and search engine traffic. I can't see needing anything else for the forseeable future.

Do you find that many people make a donation to maintain the site?
It is a substantial amount of money! I don't suppose it's possible to advertise the site on other space related websites?
